Winter... Ugh

Winter. Ugh

Winter has been rough. We have a lot of yummy food we put up in the fall, I started making cheese, and Little Goose has been able to spend some time with her favorite cousin, but still. It’s been dark. I haven’t even written a thing through the winter. It’s just… DARK.

We didn’t do much around the homestead this winter. No construction, very little plans, and everything seems to be a bummer.

Rainbow Pancakes at A. Goose Homestead

We’ve kept ourselves occupied with things like rainbow pancakes. We were throwing dinner together one night and Audrey asked for rainbow pancakes. Voila.

I’m already regretting not making more plans. I wanted to have a permanent greenhouse design in place before the thaw. I wanted to know where our goats would live and price out fencing. I wanted to know more about the future.

Then I have friends remind me of how awesome these plans are, even if they aren’t exact. Galit is so excited for me. Our new friends who are moving to the area next month are soooo excited to see what we’re up to next. And hey, maybe you’re excited too.

So here’s my depressing reflection on winter, and the reason I haven’t written much lately. But, it’s February and the sun is coming back. The snow is melting here and there, and we’ve got a few things started. Yay!
